Rhys recently took A Swing Affair to Hamer Hall, headlining two shows as part of Arts Centre Melbourne's Morning Melodies series. Each show featured two 60-minute sets of swing, jazz and soul, backed by a six-piece band made up of some of Melbourne's most respected musicians.
The shows pulled from the great American songbook alongside Rhys's own take on the genre — the kind of timeless, feel-good music that suits a room like Hamer Hall perfectly. Joining him as special guest was Nina Ferro, one of Australia's finest jazz vocalists, who brought her own flair to the afternoon and traded vocals with Rhys throughout the set.
"It was a real privilege to perform in such an iconic venue, and the response from the crowd made both shows genuinely special. Thanks to everyone who came along, to Nina for being part of it, and to the band for bringing the music to life!"
A Swing Affair will be back — keep an eye on this page for upcoming dates.
